ホストファミリーとしての貴重な体験と交流が出来た3週間でした。私自身、海外でのホームステイの経験はありましたが初めて受け入れ側の立場になり最初は緊張しておりました。しかし、来日前の事前説明会やオンラインでのやり取りが出来たことで安心して受け入れる事が出来ました。オンラインでのやり取りでは時差も考慮しながら対談し、YCEプログラムに参加する事の情熱や意気込みを直接感じる事が出来ました。
今回の受け入れでは、我が家に宿泊しながら名古屋本丸ライオンズクラブのメンバーと一緒にアクティビティをそれぞれ担当するという形をとりました。事前に本人の興味のあることを確認し、各メンバーに彼に体験して欲しい事を考えてもらい、各々の持てるリソースの中でアクティビティを組んでいただきました。私はホストファミリーとして日常生活面をサポートし、各アクティビティに関しては名古屋本丸ライオンズクラブメンバーの皆で一丸となって受け入れた３週間でした。
実際の受け入れとなった初日は事前にコンタクトをとっていた分、ようやく会えたという喜びがあり笑顔で迎え入れる事ができました。初日の夜はクラブメンバーと一緒に会食し、日本で食べる初めての日本食に大変喜んでおりました。翌日は荷ほどきと生活オリエンテーション、ＹＣＥプログラムの準備を行い約３週間の滞在に向けてスタートをきりました。
アクティビティに関しては日本文化体験（茶道・そば打ち・陶芸・寿司・酒蔵見学等）、中部エリアの特色を知る体験（名古屋城・大須観音・名古屋港水族館・プラネタリウム・豊田産業技術記念館・なばなの里・福井訪問等）、ＹＣＥ生の興味・会員のリソースを活かした体験（例会参加・工場見学・イタリア人ミュージシャンとの交流・日本のイタリアンレストラン体験・日本舞踊体験）等を行いました。詰め込みすぎかという心配もありましたが、本人が様々な体験をしたいという意欲的な姿勢でしたのでこの内容が実現できました。また、ＹＣＥＦさんのご協力で有松絞体験・熱田神宮散策をアテンドしていただき、同世代との交流も貴重な体験になったと思います。
日常生活では、イタリアの文化では夕食は日本より遅く20時ごろ、朝はゆっくりと聞いていましたが夕食はこちらの生活スタイルに合わせて19時台にとっていました。朝食は最初和食を作っていましたが、牛乳とパンで軽くとるスタイルで過ごしていました。言語面に関しては英語が基本になりましたが、翻訳機能等を使い日本語・英語・イタリア語でのコミュニケーションがとれました。挨拶は日本語で言うように心がけたり、日本語でのスピーチに挑戦したりなど日本文化を吸収したいという思いも感じられました。
キャンプ期間を除くと約２週間の滞在でしたがお互いに貴重な体験が出来、ＹＣＥ委員の皆様、名古屋本丸ライオンズクラブの皆様に深く感謝致します。

～留学生Yacoのレポート～
My trip to Japan is one of the most significant experiences of my life. My name is Jacopo Morano, I am 22 years old and I come from Italy. I had the extraordinary opportunity to spend 21 days in Japan, mainly in Nagoya, Aichi prefecture. This stay allowed me to fully immerse myself in a culture that has always aroused my curiosity.
During my stay, I spent a week in a campus between Nagano and Tokyo with an international group of boys: we were eight Italians and twelve from Malaysia. This period was enriching not only for the discovery of new friendships, but also for the cultural exchange that resulted. We shared unforgettable moments and learned a lot from each other, while immersing ourselves in the Japanese everyday life.
What struck me deeply was the respect, education and ways of doing of the Japanese, characteristics that reflect their millenary culture.
Thanks to my host family and the support of the members of the Lions Club in Nagoya, I was able to visit beautiful places and live authentic experiences, among them visits to Buddhist and Shinto temples, symbols of a deep-rooted and fascinating spirituality, I also had the honor of participating in a tea ceremony, discovering the deep meaning behind every gesture and every detail and many other activities that .
One aspect I particularly enjoyed was the Japanese food. The variety and care in the preparation of dishes have won me over, confirming my great interest in the cuisine of this country. Each meal was a journey of new and surprising flavors.
This stay was not only an opportunity to discover Japan, but also a moment of personal growth, I learned to know and appreciate cultural differences.
I look forward to returning to Japan to continue exploring this wonderful country and to meet the people who made this trip so special.
